The Company

NetStart Consulting Ltd. was formed by Linda Tauscher and Tom Malaher in 1994 to assist small businesses in establishing a presence on the Web. Since then our focus has expanded to encompass a variety of skills in the information technology field that we have acquired during the past two decades.

Linda Tauscher

Linda earned her BSc in Computer Science at the University of Alberta in 1985, and her MSc in Computer Science at the University of Calgary in 1996. Her thesis involved an empirical study of WWW page revisitation patterns, and included guidelines for the design of Web browser history mechanisms. She has worked as an assistive technologist, user interface specialist, trainer, business/systems analyst, project manager and software developer. Her previous employers include: Procter & Gamble, DMR Group, DeVry Institute of Technology, Nortel, Alberta Research Council and TELUS. Linda currently specializes in assistive technology assessment and training, and accessibility auditing.

Tom Malaher

Tom holds an MASc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. He has worked as a software developer, engineer, system administrator, systems analyst, network administrator, Webmaster, and consultant. His previous employers include: the University of Manitoba, University of Waterloo, Nortel, and XOR Network Engineering (among others). Tom's thesis investigated the application of artifical intelligence algorithms to path planning for robots.
